Yesterday I helped my friend Darren to setup a photoshoot of a drummer called Jay, who wanted some portfolio photos for a new website.  I never appreciated that there is so much involved in playing the drums and that each part of the drum has to be fine-tuned to give the perfect type of sound.  It takes a lot of practice and dedication.

Jay was a cracking bloke and, as I found out, a big Alan Partridge fan like myself.  As you can imagine, there were several cries of “A-Ha!”, “Jurassic Park!” and “Back of the Net!” throughout the shoot.  Needless to say, I had the last laugh…  🙂

It was a great shoot and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I am just sorting through the RAW files now.

A little while ago I photographed a different Jay.  A glamour model from Manchester.  Like yesterday’s shoot, it was to provide her with a few new images for her portfolio.  She had fantastic blue eyes and was a pleasure to photograph.

The photoshoot took place in her home.  Jay is a bit of a ‘rock chick’ and wanted to show off her tattoos, whilst hiding her boobs.  This shot was taken in her bathroom at the end of the session and was lit with just one light – an Elinchrom studio flash unit fitted with a beauty dish.  Simple, but it works for me, and Jay is now using the image in her portfolio.
