Apologies for not updating for a few weeks. Family holiday and then spending time sorting through all my holiday photos, and realising how quickly my two children have grown up.
Anyway, this set of photos follows my earlier ‘Photographing Jordan‘ post. Paul and Jordan are gym buddies. I was helping out my friend Mel with the shoot, so just fired a few frames off when I got chance.
For Paul and Jordan, it was their first time in a photography studio, so they were, understandably, a little nervous. We used three studio lights for these shots – one from the front and two giving rim lighting from the back. The lighting was deliberately kept very hard. On reflection, I’m not entirely happy with the lighting and think we could have done a better job, but the two guys went away happy with their photos and their first experience of being male models.
I used the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 lens. I’m really liking this lens, even though it weighs a ton. The images are crisp and sharp. I took it on holiday with me and used it for portraits of my kids on the beach, shooting at f/4 to give a beautiful blurry out of focus background.
