HUNGER magazine issue 5 from Rankin

I was pleased to see issue 5 of Rankin’s ‘HUNGER‘ magazine hit the shops this week. 

I have been buying HUNGER since issue 1.  It is a fantastic magazine for any lover of portrait or fashion photography – packed full of editorial content, with adverts kept to a minimum. 

Many of the editorials feature a diverse collection of photography by the Editor-in-chief, Rankin.  Page after page of stunning photography.  In this issue I think, for me, the black and white feature on Bryan Ferry stands out as amongst the best.

HUNGER has gone through a re-branding exercise and I think the new logo with a more traditional typeface suits it. Overall, a high quality, stylish, well produced publication.

My only gripe with the magazine is that it wasn’t as easy to buy this time as none of my local Sainsburys are stocking it.  Luckily, I found a copy at WH Smiths.  If you’re reading this Rankin, you need to try to get HUNGER stocked at more outlets.

Christie

I’m one of those photographers who is never totally happy with my images.  I always feel there are things I could have done better or differently.  This also applies to retouching and post-processing.  Every now and then I will have a look through my collection of finished images and original RAW files and get the urge to re-work (or play around) with one or two.  So it was that I dug out these two images from my first shoot with Christie and gave them a new lease of life.

Christie is a semi-professional model who I’ve photographed four times now.  She’s a joy to work with – great fun, sometimes a bit unpredictable, and she can throw some great expressions into the mix.
