This year I have enjoyed some wonderful photoshoots with Melissa. She certainly ranks as one of the best models I have ever photographed. I’m already talking with her about our next shoot in the New Year, and I cannot wait.
This shoot, our sixth, found us on the top floors of an old industrial mill building to which the owner had very kindly allowed us access. A good opportunity to try some fashion portraiture. I thought Melissa looked immaculately made up, with her hair slicked back in a tight bob. I think it’s a look that really suits her.
For all the shots I just relied on the natural light coming from the large windows to camera left. We tried various locations within the mill, but these shots were taken in a corridor, next to a lift. I was drawn to the steel door and metal grille of the lift as a backdrop.
In the spirit of keeping things simple, I just stuck with the one lens throughout the shoot – my ‘nifty fifty’ Nikon 50mm f/1.8 prime lens. The camera settings for this set of shots was:
Aperture – f/2.8
Shutter – 1/250
ISO – 400
